Welcome to the website of Peaks & Dales Advocacy

Peaks and Dales Advocacy is an independent organisation working in the High Peak & North Derbyshire Dales to provide a free advocacy service for:

    • Older people.

    • People with mental health problems

    • People with learning difficulties.

    What is advocacy?

Advocacy is about standing with someone and encouraging and supporting them to know what they want in their lives and what they want to say, and to have that want (or need) voiced.

How do we do it ?

By ensuring that the people from here who work on behalf of our partners are trained and supported. Our one to one advocacy work is done by our volunteers and a small team of paid staff.

While none of us profess to be experts there is a lot of expertise within the organisation on health, social matters, life and even law if needed.

    How can we help you?

We do not try to replace families but there are occasions when the people we work with need someone independent to stand in their corner. That is what an advocate does.

If you think we can help you or someone you know,or you would like some more information, either ring or e mail us.

We aim to ensure that the views of the people who want our help, who we call partners, are known, respected and protected

    Our Advocates

If you think you might be interested in joining us as a volunteer advocate or in some other voluntary role please contact us for an informal talk. Our existing volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and are of all ages.

All training given is practical and based on experience to give advocates the skills they need to fully support our "partners".

If you want to hear what an experienced volunteer advocate thinks go to our advocates page. .
